A Hero’s Return

Brad_small.jpg (12971 bytes) Every once in a while, a person can be in the right place at the right time and get the chance to be a part of something very special. Such was the case with me this past Friday.

Thank You Team BHNA

First, I would like to say thank you to James and Donna for asking me aboard  as a team member of Bowhunting North America.  Second, I want to express gratitude to James for his excitement and enthusiasm for the sport of bowhunting and “drawing” me in.  I haven’t hunted since I was a teenager mainly because my dad wasn’t a big hunter.

Long Road to the ATA

After 12 long hours of straight driving we had finally arrived in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the 2007 ATA show.  We dropped off our luggage at our hotel and then headed to the Frady’s hotel room for a strategy meeting.

Dear Santa, I Want .....

This is the time of year when all good little hunters start to make their wish list for the little round man in the red suit. For most hunters the list is endless since most of us are gadget freaks and anxious to try anything new.

Varmints at Mach 2

As co-owner/operator of an archery only day hunting service in Texas, I get to share in all the fun stuff of running a hunting business. The fun stuff like setting up and maintaining over 30 deer stands. Fun stuff like mowing roads and trails to deer stands. And the most fun of all, trying to keep an old, and I stress “old” mobile home used as the camp house.

Moose Season is Open

Moose season is finally here and open for all of us hunters to take aim at.   For some of us this maybe the only moose season we will ever see.  Of course I am talking about the annual Golden Moose awards on The Outdoor Channel (TOC)

Aim Low Grasshopper

As co-owners of an archery only day hunting service, my partner and I are often called on to help in the tracking of bow shot hogs. For some reason we just can’t seem to make people understand just how low you have to shoot a hog with an arrow to make an effective kill shot.

Getting Along

Hills.jpg (30896 bytes) Hunting in Texas is certainly different than most other areas of the US. Compared to other states, public land hunting is limited to a few Wildlife Management Areas operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., some Army Corp of Engineers land and a little National Forest land.

Team BHNA at TTHA

ferg_family_and_john_300.jpg (38803 bytes) The Bowhunting North America team traveled to Ft Worth, TX this past weekend to attend the Texas Trophy Hunters Assoc Hunter’s Extravaganza.  The Hunters Extravaganza is largest show of its kind in this part of the country. It is estimated that over 50,000 people visit the 3 day show.

Women in Camp

As the operator of a day hunting service, we get many calls from hunters wanting to know if we allow women hunters or women in camp. At first I thought it was odd that anyone would even ask such a question until I learned that apparently there are outfitters and hunting leases that don’t allow women in the camp.

ATHA-Fayetteville, AR

booth 2.jpg (49850 bytes) I traveled to Fayetteville, AR this past weekend to attend the first ever Arkansas Trophy Hunters Association Hunters Extravaganza. I was there representing Brazos Archery Outfitters and Bowhunting North America.
