As operators of
an archery only day hunting business, one of the things we are
constantly challenged with is keeping our tree stands properly
maintained. All our stands are equipped with bow hangers, safety
belts, and pull ropes for hoisting bows and other equipment into the
stand.
Climbing with
any item in your hands is very dangerous and should be avoided under
all circumstances. If you find yourself in a situation where you
don’t have a pull rope in the stand – put your stuff down and go
somewhere and get one before attempting to climb into the stand.
It’s just too
dangerous to do otherwise and could cost you your hunting season or
even your life.
In spite of our
best efforts, sometimes the pull ropes come up missing and have to
be replaced. Squirrels and other critters often chew them up or a
hunter will leave the rope dangling
rather than tying it down after leaving the stand and it blows up
into the tree so that the next person has to climb up and dig it
out, then go back down and tie on his/her equipment.
Well, I think
I’ve found an easy solution to this problem. I recently was given
a great little device called the Huntin’ Hoist! Wow – what a
handy tool! This is one of those things that when you see it you
say, “why didn’t I think of that”!
The Huntin’
Hoist is a self retracting spool containing 30 feet of braided rope
house in an injection molded housing. It comes complete with a belt
clip attachment. I keep mine clipped to a loop on my backpack and
it’s always right there handy when I need it. The Huntin’ Hoist
also features Doyle’s Gear Cinch, a patented choker that
eliminates the flimsy plastic and noisy metal clasps common on other
hunter’s utility ropes.

If you hunt
from a tree stand or other elevated stand, you gotta have one of
these! I think we’ll
purchase several of these and furnish them to the hunters that visit
our operation. The next big challenge is going to be trying to get
them back. I think once the hunters use the Huntin’ Hoist,
they’ll want to keep it!

Hoist website – www.huntinhoist.com
