James
and Donna came from two completely different
backgrounds. Donna
was a city girl and James was, and is, a country boy. Donna grew up thinking hunting was a bad thing and that there
wasn’t anything else in life except football and
baseball. James
grew up deer hunting from the time he was 7 and didn’t
really care much for football or baseball.
Donna’s thinking changed in 1990 when she met
and feel in love with James and started following him on
hunts just for the sake of being with him.
James
invited Donna to go hunting with him and she did
thinking she would hate it but wanted to be with him.
She recalls being in the blind that first morning
in blue jeans, sweat shirt, James’ camo military
jacket and boots freezing to death.
It wasn’t long into the hunt when a deer
appeared at about 400 yards.
Her only recollection of what happened next was
saying, “SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!”
I think the rest is pretty much history.
She was hooked and couldn’t wait to get her
turn at a deer.
James
knew then he had found his true love and never let go of
Donna. They were soon married and a couple years later,
Michael was born. James
couldn’t have been more excited about another hunting
buddy coming into this world.
Michael has been involved in hunting in some form
or fashion since he was 2 years old.
A
couple years after that, Morgan was born and almost
immediately she started showing an interest in hunting.
From the time she could walk she was in a blind
or tree stand. They
couldn’t get out of the house to hunt alone anymore. Morgan wanted to go on EVERY hunt.
Before
long for Donna and James realized that if they wanted to
be together, they had to make hunting a family affair.
That’s when Bowhunting North America was born.
Donna and James created Bowhunting North America
to share with the world the idea that hunting can and
should be a family sport.
Even if everyone in the family doesn’t want to
hunt it still can be a family event.
Michael and Morgan enjoy hunting, hiking,
football and playing playstation while at the ranches
they visit. The
Ferguson family truly loves spending time together,
whether in the field or at camp.
