Mathews Switchback Product Review |

The
folks at Mathews have done it again. They have proved again, that I can
be wrong! After
many years of shooting the same bow (Brand X) and after many years of
hearing nothing but good things about Mathews bows, I couldn’t resist
any longer and had to give one a try. Being a bowhunting outfitter, I’ve
had the opportunity to see about every brand of bow on the market from the
hunters that visit our ranch. Without
a doubt, the vast majority of our hunters were shooting Mathews and each
of them had nothing but good things to say about their Mathews bows.
I decided to stop in at my local archery pro shop and just give one
a try. Don’t ever do that
unless you’re ready to buy! I shot a Mathews Legacy right off the rack
with nothing installed but a rest. Even with that minimal rigging, it was
the sweetest shooting bow I had ever had in my hands. I left the store
with it that day. I had
the dealer rig the bow with a drop away rest and good sight and a Mathews
2-piece quiver and I was convinced that I had bought the last bow I’d
ever need. I’d go to my grave shooting this Legacy. I hunted with it the
next season and took a nice buck, several hogs, turkeys, and javelina. Then
comes along my friend James and says “Hey, shoot this Switchback. It’s
the latest and greatest from Mathews, and I think you’ll like it.”
Don’t ever do that
unless you’re ready to buy! I couldn’t believe it. As much as I liked
the Legacy, as well as it shot, and as much as the fact that it was paid
for – I couldn’t help myself, I had to have the Switchback! Before
I shot the bow, I just wouldn’t have believed Mathews could improve on
the Legacy. Don’t get me wrong – the Legacy is a fine bow, but the
Switchback is that and much more. This bow feels better in my hands and
fits me better than any bow I ever owned. And it shoots right where I
point it. It has an incredibly smooth draw and zero hand shock upon
release. Of course it has to be quiet too since it utilizes the vibration
dampening system that Mathews has made famous. I’m not the type of person that pays a lot of attention to such details as brace height and peak weight and let off and all that. I’m the kind of person that knows when a bow feels right to me and shoots well in my hands and the Switchback is my new hero! Let’s see ‘em try to improve on this one! John
